Getting started
What is RetailShield Compliance?
RetailShield is an app for independent convenience stores and small retailers. It helps your team complete daily checks, record refusals and incidents, track training and keep organised records in one place.
Who is RetailShield for?
Independent convenience stores, off-licences, forecourts and small retail groups that want an easier way to manage daily procedures and records.
Who built RetailShield?
RetailShield was built by Sag Hussain, who has owned and operated convenience stores. It is designed around the everyday problems store owners and staff face.
How long does it take to set up?
Most stores can be set up in under an hour. Add your store, invite your staff and start using the ready-made checks and training straight away.
Does it work on phones and tablets?
Yes. RetailShield works in the web browser on phones, tablets and computers, so staff can use it on the shop floor or in the back office.
Trial and pricing
Is there a free trial?
Yes. You can try RetailShield free for 14 days with no card required.
How much does it cost?
Plans start from £9.99 per store per month, with unlimited staff accounts in each subscribed store. See the pricing page for full details.
Will I be charged automatically when the trial ends?
No. You are only charged when you choose a paid plan and confirm payment.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. Cancelling stops future renewals and you keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for.
Can I manage more than one store?
Yes. The Retail Group plan gives central oversight for three or more stores, with an owner dashboard covering every store.
Features
Can I keep a refusals register?
Yes. Staff can log refused sales with the date, time, product, description of the person and reason, and managers can sign and date entries. Registers can be printed.
Does it include Challenge 25 training?
Yes. RetailShield includes starter training and quizzes for Challenge 25, proxy sales and refusals, food safety and fire safety, plus certificates for staff who pass alcohol sales training.
Can I record fridge and freezer temperatures?
Yes. Staff can record temperature readings, and the app highlights readings outside the ranges you set so problems can be followed up.
Can I record incidents?
Yes. The incident log captures the date, time, location, people involved, what happened, witnesses and actions taken.
Can I print my records?
Yes. Registers, temperature records, incident records and training records have a print option so you can produce paper copies when needed.
Does it work without internet?
Selected checks and incident records can be recorded offline and will sync when your connection returns. You need to open the app online at least once first.
Can I track licences and inspections?
Yes. Registers cover licensing, food safety, fire safety, maintenance and official visits, with reminders when items are due or overdue.
Staff, security and data
Can each member of staff have their own login?
Yes. Unlimited individual staff accounts are included, so every check and record shows who completed it.
Can an inspector or area manager view records without editing them?
Yes. You can give someone a read-only reviewer role so they can view reports and records without changing anything.
Is my data kept secure?
Each business can only see its own records. Access is controlled by role, and changes to important records are logged in an audit history.
What happens to my records if I stop subscribing?
Records stay available to view and export for 30 days after editing stops. They are not automatically deleted when a trial ends.
Compliance
Does RetailShield guarantee I am compliant?
No. RetailShield supports good procedures and organised records, but it is not legal advice and does not guarantee compliance. Always check requirements with your licensing authority or adviser.
Is RetailShield linked to a symbol group?
No. RetailShield is independent and is not affiliated with any symbol group or wholesaler.
Does it cover Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland?
The app can be used across the UK, but some guidance is written with England in mind. Check local rules where they differ.
